真空管マザー(AX4GE Tube-G)としての余生 ― 2012/02/26 06:47
2002年頃、AOpenから真空管搭載のマザーボードという誰もが首を傾げるような怪しい製品が発売され、案の定、市場からは直ぐに消えてしまった。
発売当初は２０，０００円位したようだが、手元にある物は、200４年３月、秋葉原の「俺コンハウス」にて格安(4,980円)で手に入れたもので、当時、わけあり品のような売られかたをされていた。
ネットで調べたところ、背面に取り付ける「ステレオピンジャックの左右(赤と白)が逆」になっており、更に「アースの線が片側しかつながっていない」という、何ともお粗末な不具合が判明したが、半田付けで簡単に直すことができた。そのほか、特に、不具合は見つかっていない。
購入した当初は真空管を差し替えたりして暫く使っていたが、真空管の使用の有無にかかわらず、オンボードのサウンド機能を使った場合、テレビチューナーボードから録画する際や、ＭＩＤＩキーボードから入力する際などに音のずれ（遅延）が発生するため、別途、サウンドカードを挿して使うことにした。その結果、真空管を含むマザーボードのサウンド機能は封印され、まったく使わなくなってしまった。
しかしながら、アナログテレビ放送の終了とともに、本機もテレビ録画機としての役割を終え、また、TU-870R（真空管アンプ)というよき伴侶も得たことからたことから、真空管マザーとしての本来の姿で、引退後の余生を送ることとなった次第である。
引退（真空管マザーとしての復活）の記念に、差替用の真空管を買ってあげることにした。
ここのところ毎週のように通っている、東京ラジオデパート２階のキョードーでTRONALのECC88（1,400円）を購入。
これで、このマザーボードで使える真空管は、（写真左から）
買ったときに付いてきたSOVTEK(ロシア製)の6922、
マザーボード購入当時の２００４年頃、東京ラジオデパートの１階（当時は、１階で真空管を売っていた。）で購入したＺＥＮＩＴＨ(米社)ブランドの６ＤＪ８（1,200円)、
そして、今回購入したTRONALのECC88
の計３本になった。
